Preparations start early for the Chandan Yatra

ISKCON Punjabi Bagh’s temple hall was unusually crowded in a corner during the hot sunny afternoons in April. On close look, you could see devotees sitting down grinding Chandan! Several big jars had already been filled with the sacred clay, while many were getting filled drop by drop. As part of the annual festival, several congregation devotees and visitors take out time during their day to serve the lord. All this Chandan grinded through the month is applied for the first time on the deities Akshaya Tritiya (30th April). This sandal isn’t only cooling for the deities but also marks the devotion and love in the hearts of devotees that now adorns the lords in the form of Chandan!
